ADOPT-A-ROAD:  Old National

CVS, 7055 OLD NATIONAL HWY, 30349

Our Adopt A Road initiative is a communal call-to-action, empowering local residents to directly engage in the cleanliness, improvement, and ongoing care of their neighborhoods.

This program specifically focuses on revitalizing key roadways such as Bethsaida Rd, Old National Hwy, and West Rd, with the goal of ensuring these streets are not only safe but also clean, thereby restoring a sense of communal pride and unity.

By participating in Adopt A Road, volunteers contribute significantly to the aesthetic and environmental quality of their local environments, fostering a cleaner, more inviting space for everyone in the community.

This hands-on program not only beautifies the area but also instills a spirit of cooperation and stewardship among residents, making it a pivotal step towards sustainable community living.

ADOPT-A-ROAD:  West Point

2514 W Point Ave, ATL 30337

The Adopt A Road program offers a pro-active avenue for residents to take charge of their environment, nurturing the spaces where they live, work, and play.

Focused on West Point Ave, from Sullivan Rd to Wickersham Dr, the initiative goes beyond merely keeping the streets safe and clean; it's about reducing environmental harm and fostering a deeper understanding of our impact on the planet.

Participants in the program are not just picking up litter; they are playing a critical role in preventing pollution, protecting local wildlife, and conserving resources within the community we serve.

By embracing this program, community members restore pride and beautify their surroundings, while also setting an example of environmental responsibility, making our shared spaces not only more aesthetically pleasing but also more eco-friendly and sustainable for future generations.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UPS

2514 W POINT AVE, ATL 30337

Our Community Clean-Up program is a cornerstone initiative that empowers residents to directly impact the cleanliness, beauty, and health of their neighborhoods.

Through organized neighborhood clean-ups, we not only ensure our communities are safe and visually welcoming but also address the broader environmental concerns that litter poses to our local ecosystems and resident well-being.

Litter, beyond being an eyesore, can block drainage systems leading to flooding, harm local wildlife, and contribute to pollution that affects air and water quality.

This, in turn, can have dire consequences on the health of community members, from respiratory issues to waterborne diseases.

Moreover, by providing plants and flowers for residents to replant in their home gardens or on porches, our program also promotes green spaces which are vital for mental health, air purification, and creating habitats for pollinators.

Through these efforts, we not only beautify our neighborhoods but create a healthier, more sustainable environment for all residents.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

2514 W POINT AVE, ATL 30337

Our Community Garden Project extends beyond mere gardening, offering participants a holistic approach to sustainability and health.

In addition to engaging with urban agriculture through building garden containers, planting a variety of fruit and vegetable seeds, and harvesting produce, we enrich this experience by offering cooking classes, meal preparation sessions, and nutrition workshops.

This comprehensive program allows residents not only to take home a container, soil, and seeds with no registration required but also to learn valuable skills in utilizing their harvest to nourish their families.

Each household is encouraged to participate fully, with a limit of two seeds or containers maximum to ensure widespread access.

Our initiative fosters a connection with the land, educates on the principles of healthy, sustainable living, and brings the community together through shared learning experiences, from soil to supper.

WASTE REDUCTION

FEEDING GA FAMILIES POLICY

Waste Reduction is a strategic initiative aimed at minimizing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainability within the community.

At the heart of this policy is a commitment to significantly reduce the use of single-use plastics, a major contributor to pollution and environmental harm.

Recognizing the critical role of waste management in environmental preservation, the policy also includes measures to redirect food waste to farmers, transforming potential waste into valuable resources for agricultural use.

Furthermore, the policy advocates for a conscious shift towards recyclable products wherever possible, encouraging both our organization and our stakeholders to choose, request, or switch to alternatives that support recycling efforts.

Together, these measures reinforce our dedication to reducing environmental impact and fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly community.

REUSE + REPURPOSE

FEEDING GA FAMILIES POLICY

Reuse + Repurpose is geared towards instilling a culture of sustainability by transforming the way we view and utilize everyday items.

Central to this initiative is the concept of turning single-use items into multi-use assets, thereby reducing waste and promoting environmental consciousness.

This policy encourages the reuse of bags, boxes, and containers for multiple purposes, extending their lifecycle and minimizing our carbon footprint.

Additionally, it advocates for the creative repurposing of materials such as crates and pallets, which can be transformed into functional items like benches, planters, and other useful objects.

By adopting these practices, we are not only contributing to a greener planet but also fostering innovation and resourcefulness within our community, making sustainability a shared responsibility and an integral part of our daily lives.

RECYCLE

FEEDING GA FAMILIES POLICY

Recycling emphasizes the importance of responsible waste management by focusing on cardboard recycling, a simple yet effective practice to reduce environmental impact.

This policy mandates the diligent breaking down of boxes and cardboard materials for inclusion in our weekly recycling collection.

By streamlining this process, we not only facilitate the efficient recycling of these materials but also underscore our commitment to sustainable practices.

This measure helps in cutting down waste, conserving natural resources, and supporting recycling industries, thereby reinforcing our dedication to a cleaner and greener future for all Georgia families.
